INTERNET SOCIAL LIFE – How Messaging Changed Into Social Networking

We humans, are the foundation stone of this blue planet ‘Earth’. We changed the way we look. It was not frequent, it took centuries to accomplish the dream of civilized society. We have left our footprint on moon and reached Mars. First wires, then wireless and now clouds. It is unbelievable how much far we are, manpower age to capital power era. Vision for the advancement of mankind to form the whole world one nation. Not only we altered the world, we also transformed the social life of us.

 

In human evolution, we have seen tremendous transformations and reforms in every dimension of life. Social element is the base of life, anywhere in the universe where life exists. Before the social platforms and hi-tech innovative era, people used to connect with meeting each other or sending letters, which minimum took 2-3 day from one side. But now the world has changed drastically, message delivery and reply takes less than few seconds.

Before 18th Century, communication is done through hands in written forms like letters or physically.

1. Invention of Telegraph, Pneumatic Post, Fax

In 1791, Samuel Morse developed a new way to transmit a message from one place to another and in 1830s and 1840s invention done. On May 24,1844 Telegraph took place and electronically transmitted the famous message ‘WHAT HATH GOD WROUGHT’ from Washington to Baltimore. But through telegraph we could only send short messages. After that in Mid 19th Century, Pneumatic Post system developed for sending message and installed in Post Offices and Telegraph offices. In 1842, Scottish Clockmaker Alexander Bain invented the Fax Machine, by which he sent picture-by-wire using analog telegraph technology

 

2. Base of all the communication – Computers and Telephone

First mechanical computer was created by Charles Babbage in 1822, which not resembles with the computer now we are using. In the parallel world telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell and called his assistant Thomas Watson on March 10, 1876 and his words were ‘Mr. Watson come here I want to see you’. Konrad Zuse created z1, first programmable computer between 1936 to 1938 in his parents living room. Digital computer The ENIAC was invented by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly at the University of Pennsylvania construction 1946. It occupied about 1,800 square feet and used about 18,000 vacuum tubes, weighing almost 50 tons.

Both the innovations telephone and computer played a significant role in the connectivity of people.

3.Emergence of Internet

In late 20th century, Internet into existence. ARPANET adopted TCP/IP on january 1 1983 and became the modern internet. Many of the researchers who worked on ARPANET made significant contributions to the evolution of the Internet, including Leonard Kleinrock, Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn. 4. Email and Messaging & Mobiles

Email was basically a text message which in 1971, Ray Tomlinson sent from one computer to another sitting right beside it in Cambridge, Massachusetts on ARPANET connection.
